Meet Our Family

Get treated like family - because here, that's who's behind the counter.

Our Story

It started with one baker and a better bagel.

Bagel Plaza was established in 1962 as the first bagel shop on Long Island's South Shore. Its founder, a baker from Eastern Europe, brought traditional recipes that drew crowds eager for a taste of the fresh product - and they've never stopped coming.

Everything is still prepared on premises with quality ingredients and no preservatives: bagels, bialys, challah rolls, rugelach, salads and cream cheeses, made fresh several times a day. The shop is a peanut-free facility and operates under the rabbinical supervision of Rabbi Martin Pasternak.

Along the way there's been a major 50th-anniversary renovation - and 24 seasons proudly sponsoring Merrick Little League.
